What to expect
A real local bar — and we mean that as a compliment
Sportsman's is the kind of place small towns are built around. It's a bar and grill, not a restaurant with a bar in it — full liquor, cold beer, a kitchen turning out burgers and wings and catfish, pool tables in back, and screens on the wall for whatever game is on. Come as you are. Nobody here is dressed up either.
The week has a rhythm to it. Karaoke and a DJ get things going mid-week, and on weekends we clear room for live bands — those nights run loud, run late, and are a whole lot of fun if that's what you came for. Earlier in the evening it's quieter: a good stretch to eat, shoot a game of pool, and catch up with whoever wandered in.
We're at the end of Highway 6 in Cross, and most nights the lot fills up with locals who've been coming for years. If you're passing through Lake Marion or headed home from the water, pull in. You'll get a good plate of food, a cold one, and a room that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Fair warning
This is a smoky, no-frills bar with a jukebox-and-pool-cue soul. Band nights get loud. If that sounds like your kind of evening, you're going to love it here — and if you want quiet, come early in the week.
